Hi Guys! You're all probably on here like: Where the heck is Sarah? (or not because I literally think no one reads this hahahahahah). But I've been gone for quite some time. I could make the standard excuses of "i've been busy" or "i've lost track of it." But honestly thats not true, I of course have been busy, but not busy enough to not keep up with you guys! So I'm getting back at it :-). So here is a list of what I have been up to since I last posted.
Honestly that's pretty much it. Not too much to report. I've mostly been working on myself and furthering my career and doodles. :-) Sarah P.S. I started an instagram! I post all the doodles you can ever need! Hopefully this will be turning into an Etsy Shop! Follow daffodil & daisy! https://www.instagram.com/daffodil.daisy/?hl=en Tonight, I am going to give you a glimpse inside my mind and what I plan on accomplishing this new year of 2018! This will probably end up being extremely boring, so if you hate it, continue on with you day (if someone else besides my mother is actually reading this). Side Note: Enjoy this wonderful background music, the song "Gonna Find my Love" by Brandy, that I have picked for "The Year of Sarah's" theme song/soundtrack music. (Also, I am terribly sorry (but am I really?) about the creepy smile Brandy is doing in this video, it was the only video I could find hahahahaha) Ok so let the Year of Sarah COMMENCE!!!
Theres probably going to be a few more that I will add on here, but so far this is what I plan to do this year. Peace out, Sarah Spreading lots and lots of Christmas cheer to all those I love and am near. (hahahahaha sorry had to do a cute rhyme). Thankful for an amazing family, amazing friendships, and things looking up for first time in awhile.
I am not gonna do a long post and write about how Christmas was a time of happiness and cheer, just because I think these photos I took pretty much explain my holiday. Enjoy my tiny bit of christmas spirit :) Happy holidays everyone! WELL EVERYONE THE TIME HAS FINALLY COME! MY FIRST OFFICIAL BLOG POST!
Eeeeeek! I'm so freaking excited about this y'all! For a really long time I have thought about creating a blog but I never got around to it! Welp, as you can tell, I have finally caved and am diving into the blog world! When thinking about creating a blog I didn't want it to be just any ordinary blog where you talk about your feelings and share your ups and downs (even though I will be doing that every once in awhile when ya girl has to let off some steam... ya feel?). I wanted it to be a place where I can document my latest creative pieces, my latest inspirations, my life as a young freelance designer/illustrator, as well as, a recent graduate trying to figure out her life as an adult, the fun/sad/hilarious memories I experience this year, exc. I want this to be a creative outlet where I can post literally whatever the hell I want! ... did I mention how excited I am about it... oh right I did. Moving on. Just a forewarning: I am terrible with grammar. I am horrible at writing sentences correctly. I am not that great at spelling. I love to use commas incorrectly (obviously not on purpose). If you can't stand reading my horrible writing then please enjoy my wonderful photos below, or explore my snaps page! Since I will be sharing my many creative pieces I come up with on Sarah Perdita, I wanted to give an introduction to a series I have been doing and the inspiration behind the many illustrations/doodles I create! LET GET THIS PARTY STARTED! For any of you who don't know, my greatest inspiration in the "art world" is Georgia O'Keeffe. Her fluid style and approach to flowers is so beautiful and rhythmic that any time I look at a piece I feel calm and content. My love of drawing flowers and nature actually stemmed from her pieces. I really wanted to give my audience the same feeling I have when I look at Georgia's pieces, feeling calm and content. We may have different stylistic approaches to nature but drawing flowers for me pays homage to the feeling I get when seeing an O'Keeffe piece. Now that my inspiration bit is out of the way, lets talk about my doodles (Okay, so they aren't technically doodles, more like illustrations but I just love the word doodle). Below is my most recent piece! I don't have a snappy title for it yet... Not because I'm lazy and haven't gotten around to it but because I actually suck (sorry mom) at coming up with clever titles for any of my pieces... I usually end up naming the piece "Flower 3" or something dumb like that. SOOOO ideas are welcome! I find that every designer/illustrator/artist/author/director/magician/rapper/dog has its own style. I found my design style in college, but I never really dabbled in the hand drawn illustration world so I didn't have a niche in that field. Well a couple months ago I did a fun flower doodle for a close friend with a quote of her choosing in the center. Once I finished the piece, I showed my mom as any excited daughter would! Normally, a parent would say "OH HONEY THAT IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PIECE IN THE WORLD, I'M GOING TO PUT IT ON OUR FRIDGE!" But my case is a little different. I am fortunate enough to have two extremely talent designers/illustrators as my parents. So when my mom (the greatest illustrator of all time, who has been doing this for over 20 years) saw my piece for the first time, she had to stop what she was doing. She looked at me and said "Sarah I think you found you style... we need to do something about this now! We need to get you a contract... license... anything!" My dad quickly said the same thing. Honestly, it kind of freaked me out at first hearing my parents say how excited they were for this. Not that they are never excited, but to see them want to send this out to greeting card companies right away was the part where I thought to myself... Hey I could really make this work! So here I am months later, still drawing, still painting, and just finishing the cards, with my floral drawings on them, today! I am so very freaking excited about where this could go in the future! I'll be posting again soon! Thanks for listening! Sarah |
